Nothing Left

"When you have NOTHING left but GOD, you become aware that GOD is ENOUGH."

   I've had some major alone time lately and it has made me think, a lot. We can't go along in this world and be happy unless we truly live in the Gospel. We won't be happy with sin, granted there will be a moments satisfaction but once that is gone your left with nothing.

   Sin can take away everything that we hold precious in this life, which means there in only one thing to do. We must overcome it. This means we must take the necessary action to find a way out of sin and back to the path.

President George Albert Smith said:

“My grandfather used to say to his family, ‘There is a line of demarcation, well defined, between the Lord’s territory and the devil’s. If you will stay on the Lord’s side of the line, you will be under his influence and will have no desire to do wrong; but if you cross to the devil’s side of the line one inch, you are in the tempter’s power, and if he is successful, you will not be able to think or even reason properly, because you will have lost the Spirit of the Lord.’“When I have been tempted sometimes to do a certain thing, I have asked myself, ‘Which side of the line am I on?’ If I determined to be on the safe side, the Lord’s side, I would do the right thing every time. So when temptation comes, think prayerfully about your problem, and the influence of the Spirit of the Lord will enable you to decide wisely. There is safety for us only on the Lord’s side of the line”

Acts of Kindness

One Amazing Kid

Have you notice those people around that are just amazing...? Have you ever done something yourself that warrants respect...?

This week at Denny's I witnessed an act that blew me away and showed service at its roots.

This young man took a homeless bum off the streets to Denny's and bought him a meal, something I'm sure this young man took for granted and this old bum never got to enjoy. 

We watched as this kid talked to him and provided company while he ate his food rather fast I must say. At the end when this young man was about to leave he noticed that the bum didn't have a belt and his pants were falling off. He took his own belt and offered it to this man. He showed service that night that was remarkable. Chandis threw out the idea of paying for his meal, I'm still kicking myself for not doing it. 

Dixie Car Show

   This weekend in St. George there was a little mini car show. There was a total of ten cars I think, it was nothing compared to the car show that is in Moab. It was fun to go take pictures though and see the cars that people had to offer. It got me excited for the car show that is coming up in Moab. I'm pretty sure that I will be able to go...!

Good Intentions

   Someone got mad at me today for not paying attention on English, at the same time I was done with the assignment and the paper we've been working on for three weeks. Do I get correct him and tell him that I am not paying attention because I'm done? Or do I just let it go and ignore him, let him keep up his so called "hard work" and "dedication". All is well because I know I will get a better grade than him, and I'm not concerned about my project. It just really bugs me that he has the guts to call me out, especially when I KNOW he is the one really needing to pay attention, not focus on what I'm doing. Anyway what I am trying to say is we all have good intentions, but that doesn't always get across. I'm sure he only wanted to help me in the long run, but frankly I just won't see it that way.

   “A gentleman is one who never hurts anyone's feelings unintentionally.” I'd like to call myself a gentleman after reading this quote.

   I've had a  couple days to observe my family in day to day activities. I want to point out that each and every one of us does have a light shining around us, we just need to let it shine. My brother Jaxen can find something fun in everything that he does, Rafe can get anyone to be annoyed and laugh at the same time. My mothers is the greatest mom ever, don't tell her that I said that. My grandma is the most caring and understanding person I have ever known. My grandfather has no bounds to his gifts and his personality. My great grandma will take care of anyone and do just about anything that you ask of her without questions. My Dad is the hardest working person that I know of. My step-mom is always thoughtful and caring. My step-brothers and sisters all fall into this category, although Kinny can get on my biggest nerves for some reason. The point is that every person has the light, we just need to let is shine.

   Jaxen played a soccer game over the weekend and you know I took my camera to that. I got some pretty awesome action shots, there a lot of fun to take actually. He is playing on the U14 team because there wasn't enough kids in his grade to makes teams. To remedy this they just moved all the kids up a level, that's why Jaxen looks so tiny to everyone else. His opponents are all three to four years older, of course he still shows them up I taught him well!

   Taking pictures of people in action is always hard to do. Taking those pictures when there is water around and you afraid of you camera melting is only that much harder. Over the weekend I had to opportunity to take my brothers to the pool and get some pictures of them in action. It went alright...

Underwater Shots

   I finally got Jaxen to take some time out of his play time to come take some shots with me. I wanted to take pictures of him underwater, which is harder than it sounds. We played around with it for a while and I had a blast taking pictures and trying to keep my camera dry...!

Thoughts

   Cameras are so fun! Besides the work of keeping it dry I had a blast taking pictures of my brothers. It actually drained my battery and I had to drive back to cedar to get my camera. I need to have it tomorrow for my brothers soccer games. That I won't miss taking pictures of...!
